The Dartmouth Hitchcock High School Foundations Summer Internship Program combines paid work, professional development, mentoring, and experiential learning into a robust summer experience.

It is our goal to spark a lasting interest in the many career pathways available in the healthcare industry while also offering you the opportunity to practice important workplace skills.

Application Deadline: March 15, 2024 Internship Start Date: June 24 Eligibility: Must be entering your junior or senior year of high school and local or regional to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center & Clinics.

Must be at least 16 years old by start of internship (June 24, 2024) Commit to a full-time schedule (30-40 hours/wk) for the full 7-week program Successfully complete our pre-employment screening process (background/drug screen/vaccination review/etc) Please note you will be responsible for housing and transportation during the program

2. NASA Internships Program Description: NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) paid internships allow high school and college-level students to contribute to the agency’s mission to advance science, technology, aeronautics, and space exploration.

OSTEM internships offer students an opportunity to gain practical work experience while working side-by-side with mentors who are research scientists, engineers, and individuals from many other professions.

Internships may be full time or part time; and, they may be on a NASA center or facility, or even working from your home or dorm.

3. Junior Conservative Technician Program Description: The Junior Conservation Technician (JCT) Program is a paid opportunity ($15/hour) for teens ages 16-18****

* to gain a deeper understanding of conservation action through hands-on experiences in the field at the Green Mountain Audubon Center.

JCTs are mentored by our Youth Conservation Leadership Coordinator and work alongside local Vermont conservation heroes including foresters, wildlife biologists, environmental educators, ornithologists, naturalists, and more!

The goal of this program is to provide professional learning experiences for teens in conservation and foster the next generation of conservationists.

We meet every month from January-June.

The timing of our program may vary month to month, but JCTs will always work about 7 hours/day.

6. After three years of running the JCT program we found that it is more age appropriate for students ages 16-18 as they are entering or already in a stage of their lives when big decisions are being made about a career path and post-graduation plans.

We are working on developing a fee-based program for those not yet old enough for JCT that introduces students to naturalist concepts and skills and be a feeder program for future Junior Conservation Technician cohorts.

Is the Junior Conservation Technician Program Right for You?

We're looking for candidates interested in: Outdoor/environmental education Wildlife and habitat conservation Field work and monitoring bird populations Science/nature writing and communications Building naturalist skills (Wildlife and plant ID, animal tracking, etc. ) Teaching and mentoring younger kids Building teamwork, resume, and leadership skills Hiking (we will be moving around the center every time we meet in all weather!)

4. Vermont Sports Medicine Center Internship Description: The Clinical Internship at Vermont Sports Medicine Center is designed to afford qualified juniors or seniors in High School exposure to the medical field of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

In addition to the exposure and observation, the intern will become involved in the day-to-day operations under the direction of the Clinical Manager or Practice Director.

5. Vermont Adaptive Internship Description: Vermont Adaptive seeks energetic, dedicated individuals who have a passion for sports, working with athletes with disabilities, and non-profit management and who want to learn while sharing their passions with others.

Vermont Adaptive’s Apprenticeship Program is for students ages 14-17 looking to volunteer some their time in exchange for training, experience, opportunities to ski, ride, mountain bike, and paddle, and potentially school credit and application or resume building.
