Internship Requirements: Seminar attendance: Interns will attend one-two weekly seminars (listed below) and prepare for these seminars accordingly (e. g. , read assigned journal articles).

Research Proposal: Interns, together with their mentors, will each develop an independent research project to be completed by the end of the internship.

Write a one-page description of this project, which requires mentor approval.

Present this proposal to the mentor for final approval, any time prior to the midpoint of the internship.

Presentation of Research Project: Present results of the independent research project at a Translational Institute Research Meeting, scheduled during the second half of the internship period.

Poster Symposium: Share the outcomes of the independent research project during the concluding intern poster symposium.

2. The objective of this program is to educate next generation scientists about rational drug design & discovery in the biotechnology.

Kenan fellows also attend scientific seminars that introduce them to a wide array of research topics.

Students are paid a stipend of $4,480 for the summer.

Prior to their arrival, participants attend a one-week, comprehensive introductory course that covers techniques and applications standard in biomedical research.

The course is offered by the Biotechnology Program at Palm Beach State College, Palm Beach Gardens Campus, and provides students with a foundation of basic skills necessary to succeed in a biomedical research laboratory.

After the one-week course, students work full time in a UF Scripps laboratory for an eight-week period, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

Students must arrange for daily transportation.

UF Scripps does not provide transportation or housing.
