PlayHow I Got a Research Internship at MIT in High School Monster Sessions Internship Program Monster Session is a music organization based in California and partnered with local universities, including USC, UCLA, UCI, and more.

The organization connects technology with the passion of music to create tools for music artists to develop their skills, with hopes to bridge the gap between the music industry and academia.

Monster Session provides internships (both paid and unpaid) to local college and high school seniors, and the applications are year-round, so you can apply anytime.

Eligibility: Undergraduate student OR high school senior Must be local to Irvine, California Currently unpaid NYO-USA Apprenticeships The National Youth Orchestra is a highly prestigious music program in the nation with personal friends who have attended really enjoying the once in a lifetime experience.

Students get to play alongside well-renowned musicians, with musicians such as Hilary Hahn, Alisa Weilerstein, and more.

For the Apprenticeship program, you will be working as an unpaid intern largely working in the background.

You'll have the opportunity to have a role as a composer, librarian, or orchestra manager and you’ll contribute key components to concerts from behind the scenes.

The applications are due December.

Eligibility: High school students aged 16-19 US citizen Earshot Internships Earshot Jazz is an organization dedicated to ensuring the legacy and progression of the jazz art form.

They produce numerous concerts throughout the year, and publish their monthly magazine which offers opportunities of grant assistance to resident artists, jazz education programs, and more.

As a paid intern, your role is work with the box office and with the hospitality team.

The internship lasts from late September to late October, and applications are due August 18th.

Eligibility: High school or undergraduate student Reside in Seattle, Washington Sound Thinking NYC Sound Thinking NYC is a program of the CUNY Creative Arts Team and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, in partnership with NY is Music.

STNYC provides opportunities prioritizing underrepresented groups first.

This program is a package of a summer intensive with internship opportunities.

Summer Intensive graduates will be invited to school year events and will be offered opportunities for paid internships and credited College Now Courses in their 11th and 12th grade year.

Eligibility: High school student of any grade Must attend an NYC public school The deadline is on May 6th, and the program for the year of 2024 is a 4-week intensive.

Although the intensive does not provide a pay or a stipend, it is free to the student, as money for food and transportation is provided substantially.

National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellowship The NSO Youth Fellowship Program is an orchestral training program for students interested in pursuing orchestral music as a career.

This full-scholarship program provides students the opportunity to study with a national symphony orchestra or with a musician, observe rehearsals and attend concerts, participate in chamber music ensembles, master classes, and more.

This program is open only to students in the metropolitan area of Washington, D.

C.

Eligibility: Entering grades 9-12 as of next September [younger musicians (gr. 6-8) may be considered on a special case-by-case basis] Residing in the area of the metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG):  DC; MD—Charles, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's counties;  VA—Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties.

All students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are required to submit an audition recording prior to being invited for the live audition.

Seriously considering orchestral music as a career and willing to devote themselves to a musical education by making a commitment to practice their instrument a minimum of 60-90 minutes per day.

This program requires you submit an online application consisted of the online application, a letter of recommendation, and the personal statement.

Additionally, the audition is on May 18, 2024, and there are requirements to the audition: One prepared solo piece: Must be an etude or solo piece, showing contrasting musical elements (varied tempi, dynamics, etc. ).

Please no band or orchestra parts.

Live auditions are without piano accompaniment.

Personal statement recorded through a video or written, it must answer three of any of the following questions: Why you are interested in this program?

What are your goals for yourself in the next year?

How do you envision music being a part of your life?

What do you think a challenge will be in reaching your immediate and long-term goals?

Tell us about a meaningful musical experience you have had.

Why was it meaningful?

What are your hobbies/interests outside of music This video should be less than 5 minutes and a written statement should be less than 600 words.

Lastly, there will be an application fee of $1

San Diego Symphony High School Ambassadors The San Diego Symphony's High School Ambassadors program connects the passion for music and civic engagement together to build college and career readiness for students with an interest in music and arts.

Ambassadors will attend workshops and guest lectures and work alongside San Diego Symphony staff members.

Eligibility: Students in grade 9-12; graduating seniors are also eligible Eligible to work in the United States Those with an interest in music!

This program is due April 15th, and interns will be paid $1

6. 85 hourly.

College Light Opera Music Administration Internship The College Light Opera Music Company is a performing arts theatre in Massachusetts with a high school internship offered to students who plan to pursue a degree in theatre management, design and production, or theatre arts in general.

You are able to choose from the following tracks of what you will focus on during the internship: Arts Administration, Publicity and Box Office Work with the business staff at the Highfield Theatre Box office assisting with box office sales, marketing, public relations, and house management.

Learn about arts administration, sales and marketing, and the journey from press release to performance.

2. Music Administration and Orchestra Management  Work with music staff at West Falmouth Campus and Highfield Theatre assisting with rehearsal preparation and administration as well as orchestra set up and management.

Learn about the rehearsal process and the journey from rehearsal to performance from the perspective of the music department.

3. Stage Management and Production Assistance  Work with the Production team at the West Falmouth Campus and Highfield Theatre assisting with the set-up and running of the rehearsal process as well as the running of performances.

4. Scenic Technician, Lighting and Run Crew Work with the Set Crew at the Highfield Theater assisting with set construction, lights, painting, and props as well as the run crew during performances.

5. Costume Technician and Wardrobe Crew Work with the Costume Crew at the West Falmouth Campus and the Highfield Theatre assisting with costume construction and alteration as well as wardrobe crew during performances.

Learn about the design and production process and the journey from concept to execution. ​ Eligibility: high school students planning to pursue a degree theatre management, design and production, or theatre arts in general residing in Massachusetts, or otherwise have the funds to reside in Massachusetts The applications close in August. iAM Music Internships An organization dedicated to sharing the passion of music to people all around by offering private lessons, scholarships, free instrument rentals, festivals, and more, this internship program is for high schoolers who wants a hands-on experience.

Students will be provided private lessons, theory classes, and opportunities to explore the fundamentals of music pedagogy.

Eligibility: high schooler relative knowledge on music performance, composition, or music theory The application is throughout the year, so feel free to apply anytime.

Triangle Youth Music Internship Program The Triangle Youth Music Intern Program gives TYM members the opportunity to serve as an intern from the month of September to the month of May.

Each season, 10-12 interns will be accepted.

Interns are expected to work a minimum of 4 hours each month, made up of one monthly meeting, and various intern assignments.
