The IRO welcomes all high school students, regardless of their previous experience with Olympiads.
It’s a great opportunity to challenge yourself, enhance your scientific knowledge, and develop communication skills.
4. How is the olympiad formatted and what skills does it test?
This olympiad has 3 stages of the exam: The Open Exam, Semifinals, and The Finals!
The Open Exam is multiple choice and focuses on skills that researchers MUST have, stressing proper literature review comprehension as well as beginner to advanced data analysis.
Each exam gets progressively more difficult and challenging to qualify for.
4. How does the IRO handle cheating?
The IRO has implemented a comprehensive and extensive anti-cheating protocol to ensure the integrity of the competition.
While the specifics of these measures are not publicly disclosed, rest assured that maintaining a fair and honest competition is a top priority.
5. How does the IRO differ from other scientific Olympiads?
The IRO stands out for its focus on practical application, creativity, and communication skills in STEM developing critical skills one needs to be a researcher.
While traditional Olympiads may emphasize theoretical/factual knowledge, the IRO pushes participants to apply their deep understanding and critical thinking skills towards challenging research topics.
