The International Research Olympiad (IRO) is back, and we are thrilled to announce that registrations for the 2025 edition are officially open! If you're passionate about science, critical thinking, and research, this is your chance to showcase your skills on a global platform.

What is the IRO?

The International Research Olympiad is a one-of-a-kind competition dedicated to testing scientific research ability while fostering critical thinking and analytical skills. With participants from over 45+ countries in 2024, the IRO has rapidly grown into the largest global community of young students interested in research.

Unlike traditional Olympiads that focus on theoretical knowledge, the IRO emphasizes real-world research applications, problem-solving, and literature analysis. It provides a unique opportunity for students to experience the fundamentals of scientific inquiry and research methodology.

• Registration Deadline: February 18, 2025

• Open Examination: March 2025

• Semifinals and Finals: TBD

How to Get Started

1. Register for the 2025 IRO Opens Examination

2. Prepare for the IRO with Resources

   • Access past mock exams, curriculum guides, and the official IRO textbook to build your knowledge base.

   • Join a research club at your school or start one if it doesn’t exist yet. You can check if your school already has an IRO-affiliated club.

3. Compete and Advance Through the Stages

   • The competition consists of three stages:

     • Open Examination: Multiple-choice questions testing literature comprehension, data analysis, and research skills.

     • Semifinals: More challenging questions requiring in-depth research and problem-solving abilities.

     • Finals: The ultimate test for top participants, evaluating creativity, application, and communication skills.
